Alfred Edwin Franke, 84 years old, of Centralia died Friday, February 10, 2017, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on August 17, 1932 in Centralia, IL. the son of Edward George & Anna Mae (Schilling) Franke.

Alfred was a beloved uncle to Dwight Franke and wife Brenda of Kell, IL; great-nephew Jason Franke and wife Kacy of Texico, great-niece Jenna Franke and fiancee Matt Pingsterhauss of Breese, great-great nephew David Franke; cherished cousins Richard Franke of Talladega, Alabama, Roy Franke and wife Paula of Mt. Vernon, Phyliss Conklin and husband Bristol of Sanford, Florida.

He was the brother to the late Orville Franke, nephew of Ruby Sanders, Ruth Sutherland, and Pearl Morris.

Mr. Franke served our country in the United States Army, during the Korean War. He was a member of the Centralia VFW and served as a past commander. Alfred was employed over the years with Hoffman Clothing Store for 5 yrs., Jim Ford Men’s Wear for 25 yrs., Shieff’s Shoe Store for 1 yr. His passion was being a farmer. Alfred was also a member of the Odin Baptist Church and volunteered with the Emergency Services and Disaster Agency.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Alfred will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Justin Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Memorials contributions in Alfred’s memory may be made to the Centralia VFW.
