He was preceded in death by his grandparents, step-son to the late Van Arlen Dykstra, brother to the late Marty Brandt, and step-son of the late Vicki Brandt.

Darin had a highly successful business career having founded several companies over the years. In 2004, he created the Illinois Real Estate Services, Inc. that then advanced to 15 offices throughout southern Illinois. He later started Little Valley Farms and in 2016 initiated Brandt Entertainment. Darin was involved with many organizations where he donated his time. He served on the Sandoval School Board as secretary, Sandoval PTO, trustee of Patoka UMC, was a member of the Antique Power Club, as well as the Centralia Elks. He had many interests including ballooning, amusement parks, and spending time on his farm with his pets. However, his true passion was traveling. Over the years, he took many trips with his family and those memories will be cherished forever. He firmly believed that one should “Take a vacation. You can always make money, you can’t always make memories.” Most importantly to his girls Dori and Sophie, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted father.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 pm at the Patoka United Methodist Church. Celebration of life service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Rick Atchley officiating. A private graveside service will be held at McClelland Andereck Cemetery in Sandoval. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the family to assist with the education of his daughters. Arrangements are under the care of Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval. Condolences and memories of Darin may be shared with the family at or on the Macz Funeral Homes Facebook page.
