Dallas “Dally” Belcher, 80, of Patoka, passed away February 21, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born December 23, 1936 in Patoka the son on Lloyd “Buck” and Thelma (Melton) Belcher. He married Rena Vogt on April 3, 1971 in Centralia and she survives in Patoka.
In addition to his loving wife, Rena; he was a devoted father to his children Allen Belcher, wife Denise of Mattoon, David Belcher of Patoka, and Tammy Chappell, husband Chris of Patoka; beloved grandchildren Heather Belcher, Jonathan Belcher, and Jackson Chappell; and brother Clifford “Click” Belcher, wife Joan of Patoka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Juanita Quick, and brothers Vinnis “Sam” Belcher, Walter “Walt” Belcher, Lloyd Eugene “Brady” Belcher and Roland Belcher, Jr.
Dally was a hard-working man. From a very young age, he worked on the family farm caring for animals or driving a tractor. He was also a laborer for the Brownstown Laborers Union. He had many interests over the years, including gardening, hunting, fishing, bowling, and shooting trap. One of his proudest accomplishments was being named to the 1974 State Amateur Softball Tournament Team for Second Base. He also enjoyed going for long drives in the country and was well known for his passionate story-telling skills. He will be remembered as a protective family man and devoted grandfather.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Day Macz Funeral Homes in Patoka. Celebration of life service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Day Macz Funeral Homes in Patoka with Pastor David Belcher officiating. Graveside services will follow at Pratt Cemetery.
