Edna Jewell Stein, 93, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. She was born February 6, 1924 in Herrin, Illinois the daughter of Parley and Purnie (Murray) Yancey. She married Paul Stein on July 4, 1943 in Centralia, Illinois and he preceded her death on March 8, 2006.
Edna is survived by her beloved sons, Darrell Stein and wife Sue of Salem, IL, Lonnie Stein and wife Judy of Centralia, IL; 7 loving grandchildren; 12 adored great-grandchildren; 4 precious step grandchildren; 8 prized step great grandchildren; cherished sister, Mavis Daggett of Oregon; faithful sister-in-law, Irene Yancey of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Paul Stein; brother, Orville Yancey; half-sister, Ruth Greenwalt.
Mrs. Stein was the owner of Yancey Electric for several years. She also worked at the Centralia Sentinel until her retirement. She was of the Methodist Faith. She was active in the First United Methodist Church in Centralia; and enjoyed doing floral arrangements for any church activity or holiday. Edna was a great host to family and loved to have her grandchildren over to cook for. Edna and her husband loved to travel to Branson.
Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Park Lakeside Mausoleum with Pastor Tom Paulson officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia, Illinois. The family asks that you consider contributions in Edna’s memory to the Donor’s Choice.
