Shirley Joyce Hand, 75, of Junction City, passed away March 13, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born December 27, 1941 in Centralia, Illinois the daughter of Jack and Lena Mae (Noller) Roetemeyer. She married Elvis Loyd but later divorced. Then she later married Jim Hand and later they divorced.
Ms. Hand’s survivors include her beloved children, Alan E. Loyd of Odin, Il, Peggy S. Erbes and husband David of Centralia, Il, Laura J. Mathis and husband Jack of Centralia, Il; loving grandchildren, Dustin A. Loyd, Winton B. Loyd, Jarrod W. Mathis, Jacob B. Mathis; cherished great- grandson Wyatt; devoted sibling, Marilyn Forehand of Centralia Dwight Roetemeyer and wife Mary Ann of Florida; adored aunt to numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Jack and Lena Mae Roetemeyer; sister, Evelyn Elaine Roetememeyer; brother, Vernon Roetemeyer; daughter-in-law, Candice C. Loyd.
Ms. Hand enjoyed working in her vegetable garden for many years. She will always be rememebered for her beautiful flowers. She enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, canning, and sewing. She most of all enjoyed spending time at family gatherings. You would always find her playing on her computer. She loved to cook elaborate meals for her family and friends. She worked as teacher’s aide and librarian at Sandoval Grade School for 38 years from 1972-2010. She painted murials at both Sandoval High School and Sandoval Grade School.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home Friday, March 17, 2017. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.
