Lester L. Croan, 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Centralia Manor. Lester was born July 1, 1926 the son of Archie L. and Ida R. (Nicholson) Croan in Blackwell, Ok. He married Mary Ellen Martin in Ashley, Illinois on June 25, 1947.

Lester is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Ellen of Centralia, IL; his adoring daughters, Janet Kay Lavender and husband, Steve of Hot Springs, AR, Debra Ann Barrish and husband, Donald “Mike” of Pana, IL; son David L. Croan and wife, Stacey of Belleville, IL, his three cherished grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; his precious great-granddaughter and eight step-great-grandchildren; brother Melvin Croan and wife, Doris of Irvington, IL.

Lester was the son of the late Archie and Ida Croan.

Mr. Croan moved with his parents to the Salem-Centralia area in 1939 and graduated from Odin Grade School in 1940. Then he went on to graduate from Centralia Township High School in 1944. He worked in a defense plant in St. Louis, MO until after the war, then at Linkon’s Auto Supply until 1948. Then he worked at Hollywood Brands “Leaf” first as a wrapping mechanic then as an electrician until he retired in 1993. He was member of First Apostolic Church for several years. He will forever be remembered as a family man who always put his family first.
Celebration of life services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the First Apostolic Church in Centralia with Pastor Johnathan Urshan officiating. Burial will follow at Ioof Cemetery in Ashley, IL. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 4:00-7:00 p.m. April 14, 2017 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church.
