Kenneth Gene Clift, 92, of Centralia, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Centralia Manor. He was born the son of Ralph Ernest and Inez (Shannon) Clift on October 9, 1924 near Marshfield, MO. He married Jo Laudean Renner on July 3, 1943 in Ozark, MO. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2014.


Kenneth is lovingly survived by his children Rick Clift of Centralia, Debbie Street, husband Steve of Walnut Hill, Vicki Clift of Centralia, and Randy Clift, wife Diane of Patoka; seven grandchildren Justin Cole, Alexis Clift, Chelsea Clift, Cole Clift, Kimberly Cohen, husband Mike, Steven Street, Shane Street, wife Ashlee, Staci Becker, husband Matt, Breanna Clift, Johnnie Clift, Sarah Payne, husband Mark, and Andrew Harvard; eleven great-grandchildren; beloved sister Mildred Ruth Erb, husband Richard of Marshfield, MO; niece Cheryl Robinson of Columbia, MO and nephew John Erb of Springfield, MO.

In addition to his wife Jo, he was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Inez Clift.

Mr. Clift started working at a young age helping his father farm and run a country store near High Prairie, MO. For many years, he was also responsible for getting the one-room school house he attended ready for the day by lighting the wood stove.
He enlisted in the Army in 1944, serving as a Private in WWII as part of the Southern Philippines Liberation, then served in the Occupation of Japan. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he held various jobs while starting a family in Marshfield, MO. In 1959, he began driving for Valley Steel which resulted in relocating the family to Centralia in 1962, and meeting and making many lifelong friends with fellow workers until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Clift had a passion for gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Clift will be remembered as an honest, hardworking man that always put his family first.

Services will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Centralia with Rev. Anita Munden officiating. Friends and relatives are asked to attend visiting hours from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Centralia. Memorial Contribution in Kenneth’s memory may be made to the CCBA Food Pantry.
