Phyllis Marie Bufkin, 58, of Centralia, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Phyllis was born September 26, 1958, the daughter of Gwendolyn (Walker) Hammond. She married Lanuard Bufkin the summer of August 2002 in Salem, IL.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband Lanuard Bufkin of Centralia; cherished children Alicia Perkins, husband Andre of Centralia, Earnest “Pwee” Walker of Centralia, Richard Green, wife Amy of Chicago, Dorian Sharkey, wife Alysha of Belleville, Zemry Bufkin of Brookyln, and Lanuard Bufkin, Jr. of Brooklyn; honorary sisters-in-law Tonya Green and husband Richard, Glenda Bates; mother-in-law Ruth Green; brothers Eric Walker, wife Brenda of Kansas City, Larry Walker of Arizona; sister, Lori Bratton and husband Leonard of Centralia; uncle James Walker, wife MariAnne of Wisconsin; 18 grandchildren, Tre’Vionne Perkins, Mellanay Perkins, LaNea Perkins, Darnexi Perkins, Andrea Robinson, Xavier D. Green, Breona D. Green, Breyanna J. Green Thomas, Brodic S. Green, Brandon C. Sanders, Bethani R. Green, Teone Jones, Tremain Mashburn, Malik Wilson, Charles Wilson, Dorian Sharkey, Tamiah Sharkey; 11 great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Phyllis is preceded in death by both of her parents, brother Gary Walker, grandchildren, Taniya Matthews; son-in-law Melvin Perkins.

Phyllis was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Centralia. She sang in the choir, and was on the usher board. Phyllis enjoyed coaching special Olympics. She was a supervisor at the Kaskaskia Workshop. She loved to play bingo, the lotto, and do scratch offs. She treasured the time she spent with her family, and was known for her cooking. She loved being around children.

Celebration of life services will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Centralia with Rev. Johnson and Rev. Parker officiating. Burial will follow Elmwood Cemetery. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to visiting hours at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
