He was born on April 5, 1944 at Centralia Hospital to Dean and Rebecca (Atchison) Troutt. His parents preceded him in death as did his brother Steve Troutt. Marvin was a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Helen (Metilco) Troutt of Sandoval; sister Debbie (Troutt) Swagler and her husband Terry Swagler; three children Andrew Dean Troutt, daughter Marleen Deana (Troutt) Shepherd and her significant other Zachary Sapienza, all of Carbondale, and son Mark Metilco Troutt of Kent, OH. Shepherd of Carbondale; nephew Dustin Troutt and wife Nicole of Salem; ex-wife Eileen Troutt-Ervin of Carbondale; special friend Ellie Sulcer of Sandoval; numerous cousins and extended family; and beloved pets Sarafina and Edie.

In 2015 after his father's stroke, Marvin and Helen left their life in Ohio to come home and help with his dad's needs. Marvin loved reconnecting with family and friends, and spending time with his dad until his passing in April.
Dr. Troutt received his Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics in 1975 and his Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics in 1971, both from University of Illinois at Chicago.
