Veneta D. Shaw, 97, of Centralia, IL passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Centralia Manor of Centralia. Veneta was born August 19, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Rose Dickinson in Centralia. She married Robert Shaw on April 1, 1941 in Mt. Vernon, IL.


Mrs. Shaw is survived by her loving son, Dennis Shaw and wife Simone of Centralia, cherished grandchildren, Mark Shaw and wife Jonnie, Scott Shaw, Tony Shaw and wife Sue, Aaron Shaw and wife Missy; precious great-grandchildren Michael Shaw, Megan Shaw, Patrick Shaw, Kate Shaw, Matt Shaw; many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shaw is preceded in death by both her parents; her husband, Robert Shaw; sons, Danny Shaw, Dean “Pee Wee” Shaw; sisters, Helen, Ruth, Pearl.


Mrs. Shaw kept everything running smoothly as the office manager for Dr. Snow in Centralia, IL during her working career. After retirement Veneta continued to serve the community by sharing her creativity as an art teacher for the Warren G. Murray Development Center. Mrs. Shaw was a faithful member of the Calumet Christian Church in Centralia. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening. Veneta truly loved caring for her pets Prissy and Garfield.

Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with John Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to visiting hours at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. till time of service Friday.
