Edward G. Speidel, 81, of Centralia passed away Oct 6, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield IL. He was born the son of Frederick and Amelia (Vogt) Speidel May 17, 1936 in Centralia,

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Laurie Dalton of Centralia, devoted children Mark and Pam Speidel of Laguna Niguel, CA, James Dalton of Hendersonville, TN, and Tamela Speidel of Liberty, MO, cherished grandson Tyler, loving brother Arland and Mary Kaye Speidel of Centralia, special niece and nephew Jennifer and Cameron Copple of Troy, IL, and Timothy Speidel and fiancé Elizabeth Andrade of Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fredrick and Amelia Speidel, brother Gene Speidel, and sister Elise Louise Speidel.

Edward was a graduate of St. Paul’s School of Theology with a Masters in Divinity. He served the United Methodist Church in Missouri as a minister for 19 years, until returning to his hometown in 1991. Upon returning home he worked as an automobile salesman at Seeburger’s and Monken’s in Centralia. Ed always greeted everyone he met with a smile and willingness to help. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Celebration of life Service will be held Tuesday October 10, 2017 at 11 am at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Friends and family are invited to visiting hours from 9 to the 11am funeral service on Tuesday October 10, 2017 at the Irvin Macz Funeral home in Centralia. Interment will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Central City following services. Memorial gifts are asked to be made to Gift of Hope and will be accepted at the funeral home.
