Evelyn M. Miller, 87, of Centralia passed away peacefully Monday, April 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Fireside House of Centralia. She was born the daughter of Samuel and Florence (Wiggins) Marcum on June 12, 1931 in Woodlawn. She married her life’s love, Paul Miller on December 31, 1959 in Mt. Vernon and he preceded her in death in 2005.

Survivors that will carry on precious memories of Mrs. Miller include, her beloved children, Robert Marcum and wife Becky of Centralia, Michael Marcum and wife Vonda of Clearwater Beach, FL, and Cathy Gibson and husband Doug of Centralia; cherished grandchildren, Miranda Gibson of Edwardsville, Mike and Laura Marcum of O’Fallon, Chad and Amy Marcum of Kansas City, KS, Melissa Marcum of Salem, David and Danielle Marcum of Iuka, Brad Marcum and fiancée Madison of Rodchester, MN, Nathan Marcum of St. Charles, Erika Marcum of Centralia, Ashlee Koontz and fiancé Mike of Fayetteville, GA ; 9 prized great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband, Paul, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by both her parents; infant sister; and brothers, Albert Marcum, and Oral Marcum.

Evelyn was a faithful member of Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia, where she actively volunteered as a part of the Christian Women’s Fellowship group. She was also a proud member of the American Nurses Association. Evelyn found fulfillment in her occupation as a compassionate nurse. She cared for many grateful patients, working 40 dedicated years as a LPN at St. Mary’s Hospital and Friendship House, both in Centralia. Evelyn was a true friend and the heart of her family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with John Willis officiating. Interment to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn. Family and friends are welcome to share their sympathies with the family of Evelyn at a visitation to be held from 10 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Evelyn’s honor to the American Diabetes Association.
