Avodel Buchele, 80, of Patoka passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born on January 2, 1939 the daughter of Lawrence and Elvre (Hicks) Heinzmann in Odin. She married her sweetheart Robert Lee Buchele on December 27, 1956 in Boulder and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2002.

Survivors remain to carry on treasured memories include her devoted children, Sandra Hollowell and husband John of Waterloo, IL, Dianna Rucks and husband Charles of Patoka,IL, and Carla Holtz of Columbia, TN; cherished grandchildren, Ryan Hollowell of Waterloo, Jessica Hollowell and fiancé Kevin Abell of Belleville, John D. Hollowell and girlfriend Marisa Gerken of Lake Sherwood, MO, Alicia Murray and husband Chris of Patoka, Travis Holtz of Franklin, TN, Brianna Pearson and husband Greg of Franklin, TN, Whitney Holtz of Columbia, TN; precious great-grandchildren, Blaize, Charlee, and Bryar Murray; caring siblings, Dwaine Heinzmann, Willadean Tolka, and Ronnie Heinzmann; special niece and caregiver, Delores Vosholler as well as many other loved nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband, Robert Buchele, Avodel was preceded in death by both her parents; sister, Annabelle Tolka; and brother, Verlin Heinzmann.

Avodel was a faithful member of Boulder United Methodist Church. She was appreciated by many local families as she cared for their children while babysitting from her home in Boulder. Avodel had a true passion for music and enjoyed dancing at the senior dances held in the Kinmundy, Dix and Patoka areas where she made many good friendships. She was especially proud of her grandson, Travis Holtz’s musical abilities and cherished the times he would sing and play for her. Avodel had a green thumb and loved working in her garden and strawberry patch. She was a farmer’s wife and was always willing to keep everyone fed with good food while they worked. When her children were young, Avodel and her family made many lasting memories together at her favorite vacation spot in Branson. Her most treasured moments were spent with her children and grandchildren as they were her greatest love and joy.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday October 24, 2019 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Pastor Mike Hall officiating. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 5 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the funeral home in Sandoval. Interment will follow at Pritchett Cemetery in Boulder. Memorials may be made in Avodel’s honor to Pritchett Cemetery and/or Clinton County Animal Control.
