Arthur E. Henson Sr. , 78, of Sandoval passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. He was born on October 20, 1944, the son of William and Lillian (Onhiser) Henson in Odin.

Survivors include the love of his life, Ann Handshoe; his children, James Day and wife Amanda of Irvington, and Arthur Henson Jr. and wife Stephanie of New Minden; grandchildren, Dakota, Felicity, Xander, and Jaden; brother, Richard E. Henson of Granite City; sisters Susie Cunningham of Missouri, and Jugs Johnson of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

Arthur was preceded in in death by his parents; and his brothers, Sunny Henson, and Russell Henson.

Arthur was a United States Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He was talented in the art of cooking and grateful to work as a Master Chef, living out his passion for cooking. Arthur was an amazing father to his son and daughter, was a natural nurturer and a father figure to many others. He had a kind generous heart and would give everything in his power to help anyone in need. Arthur lived a full life, gave the best guidance, and always saw the best in everyone. Arthur will be remembered as a true hero who had a heart of gold.

A celebration of life service will be held at a date in the future. Memorials may be made in Arthur's honor to the Donor's Choice and will be accepted for the family at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval.
