Obituary

Barbara Carolyn Bierman, age 80, of Centralia, Illinois, entered into rest at 12:08 P.M. on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  She was born on April 29, 1936 in Montgomery, Indiana, the daughter of Darrell Edmond and Olive Ruth (Goldsmith) Davenport.  She married Clyde Dale Bierman on February 5, 1955 at the Carlyle Methodist Church in Carlyle, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2010.

Barbara is survived by her children: Sheryl Beck of Centralia, Illinois, David Bierman of Walnut Hill, Illinois, Diane Graham of Aurora, Illinois, Linda Bailey and husband Todd of Browns, Illinois and Tim Bierman and wife Sarah of Centralia, Illinois; by her grandchildren: Shiloh Beck, Niels Beck, Jesse Beck, Olivia Bierman, Alana Bierman, Lauren Bierman, Nick Bierman, Aaron Bierman, Taylor Graham, Lindsey Graham, Stephanie Johnson, Brenna Bierman, Christiana Bierman and Tristan Bierman; by her great-grandchildren: Sierra McWilliams, Garrick and Darrin Hiltibidal, Damien Beck, Caden Beck, Jaxson Beck and Rainbow Beck; and by her numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephew, John Atchison, and his children, Austin and Madison.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, her parents, her infant son, Alan Dale Bierman on June 11, 1955, her brothers, Darrell Davenport, Jr. and Lester Davenport, and her sister, Ruth Marian Atchison.

Barbara attended Carlyle High School, where she was Senior Class President and graduated in 1954 as the valedictorian of her class.  She was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother.  She worked at the Centralia Sentinel, St. Mary's Hospital and other positions throughout her life.  Together with her husband Clyde, she managed the Home Motel in Centralia, Illinois for many years.

Barbara was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Centralia, Illinois.  She held several positions in the Church over the years, including Librarian, Sunday School Teacher and Visiting Teacher with the Relief Society.  Barbara was deeply interested in genealogy and did temple work for the Church.

She was generous, charitable and faithful, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Centralia, Illinois with Bishop Curtis Kretschmer officiating.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois.  Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Bierman's honor to the American Red Cross or Charity of Donor's Choice and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Please view the online obituary, send condolences or share memories with Mrs. Bierman's family at www.moranfuneralhome.net or on the funeral home's Facebook page.
