Bertha Louise Knapp, age 74, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 7:15 A.M. on Friday,August 15, 2014 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born on October 17, 1939 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Leo and Louise "Toots" (Williams) Jolliff..
Mrs. Knapp is survived by her daughter Connie Ivers of Dix, Illinois, 3 sons John Knapp and wife Angie of Dix, Illinois, Thomas Knapp and Sharon Brown of Sandwich, Massachusetts and Jerry Knapp and wife Charlene of Centralia, Illinois, 9 grandchildren Jessica Mays and husband Jeremy, Joshua Knapp and wife Roxzen, Kelsie Blue, Ashley Knapp, Tom Knapp, Krista Brown, Rachel Brown, Nicholas Knapp and wife Rachel and Nathan Knapp, 14 great grandchildren, 1 brother Ronnie Jolliff and wife Marilyn of Irvington, Illinois, 2 sisters Mary Mandrell of Centralia, Illinois and Helen Rueter and husband Curt of Centralia, Illinois, 1 aunt Beulah Jolliff of Mount Vernon, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Knapp is preceded in death by her brother Ben Jolliff, sister Frances Swartzlander and brother-in-law Larry Swartzlander.
Mrs. Knapp was baptized and was a member of the Fouts Christian Church in Centralia, Illinois. She enjoyed reading especially westerns and cookbooks and she enjoyed flowers of all kinds. She liked watching hummingbirds around her yard and going fishing. She was a caregiver to friends as it was important to her to take care of people. She loved to cook for her family, especially at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas time. She cherished the time she spent with her family and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Knapp was a technical processor for the Centralia Regional Library for 16 years. She was previously was a cook for Meyers Tavern. Earlier in life, she was a recess monitor at the North Wamac Grade School as a result of her love for children and their education. She has lived her whole life in Centralia, Illinois.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Donald Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Centralia Regional Library and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
