Bertha Mae Simonton, 84, of Odin formerly of Centralia passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at SSM St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. She was born on September 29, 1936 the daughter of Walter and Laura (Dugan) Sexton in Centralia.

Survivors that remember Bertha's compassionate heart include her beloved children, Joy Fulton of MO, Cheryl Hughes of Woonsocket, SD, Nena Roberts of Woonsocket, SD, Bill Deckard of AR; 13 precious grandchildren, 22 cherished great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and kind siblings, brother, Ronald "Joe" Sexton, and sister, Sandra Finley and husband Billy.

Bertha was preceded in death by both her parents, Walter and Lara Sexton; 9 brothers and sisters; and son, Everett Votaw, Jr.

Bertha was able to extend her kindness and compassion for others while working as a nurse. She gave her grateful patients the best of care and took her job very seriously. Bertha truly loved everything about being a nurse. She had a competitive nature and loved to challenge others with a good game of cards, yahtzee, or scrabble. She cherished family time and encouraged her family that they could accomplish anything they set their minds to. Bertha will be deeply missed by her friends and family. Her life of being there for others in their time of need is an inspiration to all that knew her.
