Obituary

Bobby Dean Shingleton, age 84, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 11:53 A.M. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was born on April 20, 1930 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Wyman and Leora Anne (Kirkpatrick) Shingleton. Mr. Shingleton is survived by his 2 daughters Susette Laurie Shingleton and fiance' Gregg Campbell of Centralia, Illinois and Diane Swofford and husband Curt of Vandalia, Illinois, 1 grandson Blake Swofford of Vandalia, Illinois, 4 nephews and 1 niece. Mr. Shingleton was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters Doris Miller, Sheila McBride and Norma Jean Bogard. Mr. Shingleton, while living at Plaza Verde Apartments in Centralia, Illinois, enjoyed getting up in the morning to make coffee and then spend the rest of his days meeting with his friends. Mr. Shingleton retired as a brakeman from Illinois Central Railroad. He has lived his whole life in Centralia, Illinois. Farewell Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the mausoleum chapel in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Friday. There will be no public visitation. Memorial Contributions may be made in Mr. Shingleton's honor to the Charity of Donor's Choice and will be received by Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
