Obituary

Bonnie Jean Masar, age 93, of Centralia, Illinois, peacefully passed away at 7:44 A.M. on Monday, August 31, 2015, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.  She was born on August 29, 1922 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Leslie Earl and Emma (Copple) Telford.  She married Donald W. Masar on August 29, 1945 in Carlsbad, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1991.

Mrs. Masar is survived by her loving grandchildren, Tyson Masar and wife Megan Teare Masar, Ella Masar McLeod and husband Erin McLeod, Liza Masar Haroldson and husband Erick Haroldson and Seredy Masar Williams and husband Robert Williams and loving great grandchildren, Grey Masar, Anaiah Williams, Cambira Williams and Kawaii Williams.

In addition to her loving husband of 46 years, Mrs. Masar was preceded in death by her parents, son, Terry W. Masar, and brothers, Raymond Telford, Buster Telford and Dwight Telford.

Mrs. Masar was the devoted to her husband, Lieutenant Donald W. Masar, who was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1944 for his skill and bravery as a bombardier in his B-25 airecraft during World War II.  As a wife and homemaker, she supported her husband, Don, throughout his long career as a hospital administrator in Colorado and Illinois.  She enjoyed playing the organ and interior decorating. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially watching her son and grandchildren play sports. As said by her family, "She was known for her good humor and jokes. She will be greatly missed."

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois with Reverend Rachel Helgeson officiating.  Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Saturday.  Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois.  Funeral arrangements are in the care of Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
