Charles Peter "Pete" Cooper, age 73, of Richview, Illinois, passed away at 1:20 A.M. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on June 15, 1940 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Charles Philip and Mildred (Cavic) Cooper. He married JoAnn Skibinski on September 19, 1959 in Richview, Illinois and she survives in Richview, Illinois. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Mr. Cooper is survived by his son Charles Phillip Cooper of Woodlawn, Illinois, 3 grandchildren Amanda, Tiffany and Jaylynn, 4 great grandchildren, sister Patricia Seybert and husband Thomas of Arkansas and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents, infant granddaughter, father-in-law Harold Skibinski and mother-in-law Margaret Skibinski. Mr. Cooper was a member of the Richview United Methodist Church in Richview, Illinois. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving his country during the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. He loved watching NASCAR and going deep sea fishing. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Mr. Cooper was owner of the Kortz Outdoor Power Equipment in Mount Vernon, Illinois for the last 20 years. He previously owned Illinois Foam in Mount Vernon, Illinois for 20 years.. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Richview United Methodist Church in Richview, Illinois with Pastor Dennis Gambill officiating. Friends may call from 1:30 P.M. until the time of the services at 2:00 P.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions made in Mr. Cooper's honor are suggested and will be received by Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
