Charles Leon Fisher, 90, of Odin passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Belleville Memorial Hospital. He was born in Odin, Illinois, on January 7, 1934, the son of Charley D. and Myrtle M. (Wooters) Fisher.
Charles graduated from Greenville College in May of 1956. He married the love of his life, Barbara Etta Fry, on June 10, 1956. He entered the U.S. Army in September of 1956 and served honorably for two years before returning to Odin. He was employed as a Draftsman and Engineering Technician for over 35 years. He enjoyed CB radios, electronics repair, camping, computing, and photography. He especially enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Michigan to visit his children. He enjoyed helping Barbara with her quilting hobby. He was a member and trustee of the Odin United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children: Gordon Fisher and wife Lorraine of Clyde, Michigan, Brenda Kelley and husband James of Swansea, Illinois, and Julie Pointer and husband Bennie of Swansea, Illinois; brother, Wilford Fisher and wife Kathryn of Mattoon, Illinois; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Myrtle Fisher; wife of 54 years, Barbara Fisher; sister, Helen Zelhart; and special friend, Lois Green.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Odin United Methodist Church at 111 Laury Street, Odin, Illinois, with RC Merten officiating. Interment will follow at the Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, where military rites will be accorded by the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and the Centralia VFW Post 2055. Visitation is at 11:00 a.m., at the church until the time of the service. Memorials in Charles's honor may be made to Odin United Methodist Church.
