Charles Edward Strickler, age 77, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 5:17 P.M. on Wednesday,November 20, 2013 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born on February 6, 1936 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the son of Charles Oliver and Mildred Bertine (Irwin) Strickler. He married Violet P. Wood on May 6, 1978 in East St. Louis, Illinois and she preceded him in death on August 20, 1992.
Mr. Strickler is survived by 5 sons Russell Charles Strickler, David Allen Strickler and wife Linda, Kevin Ronald Strickler and wife Kathy, Larry Strickler and Johnny Strickler, all of New Castle, Pennsylvania, 1 daughter Betty Jean Strickler of New Castle, Pennsylvania, 20 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 1 brother Robert Louis Strickler and wife Marge of New Castle, Pennsylvania, 2 sisters Beverly Ann Petty and Lois Jean Montoya and husband Roger, both of Centralia, Illinois. He is leaving behind a very dear grandson, Glen Lee Clark of Centralia, Illinois and stepdaughter Glenda Logan of Xenia, Illinois
In addition to his wife, Mr, Strickler was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister Betty Jean Strickler and brother Richard Charles Strickler.
He was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed fishing. He loved the time he spent with his family especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Strickler, along with his wife Violet, owned the C & V Gift Shop in Centralia, Illinois. He has lived in Centralia, Illinois most of his life.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Boggs Chapel in the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Reverend DeAndre Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Moran Queen~Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
