With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Christopher Kirk on May 12, 2026, in Centralia, Illinois. Chris was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, to John (“Jack”) and Claire (“Ting”) Kirk. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, John Kirk.

He leaves behind his dearest friend and companion, Diane Uhls of Centralia, Illinois, as well as his sisters, Kathy McCarroll, Claire Barnett, and Margot Young, and his brother, Colin Kirk, all of Canada.

Chris graduated from St. Malachy’s Memorial High School in 1970 and earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick in 1975. A lifelong learner with a passion for technology, he continued his education in the field of Information Technology at Dalhousie University, the Information Technology Institute (ITI) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and later at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois. Chris was among the early pioneers in the IT industry and made significant contributions throughout his distinguished career with Irving Oil Ltd., Reynolds and Reynolds, and Communications Data Group. Proud of his Canadian roots, Chris held dual citizenship in Canada and the United States.

Chris was a quiet and gentle man whose life was guided by deep and enduring faith. Through kindness, humility, and compassion for others, he lived his beliefs each day not only through words, but through his actions and good works. His steady presence, generous spirit, and devotion to helping others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A life well lived. Rest in peace, Chris.

A mass will be held in Chris’ honor at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia with Rev. Fr. Steven Pautler officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to a visitation time with his family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.
