Cindy L. "Cardinal Cindy" Griffis, age 57,  of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 12:37 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, Illinois.

She was born on September 17, 1957, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Edgar Newnum and Laverne (Barker) Newnum Ferguson.  She married Archie Griffis and they later divorced.

Ms. Griffis is survived by her daughter, Jessica D. Griffis of Centralia, Illinois, son, David Sanders of Olney, Illinois, two sisters, Patty Taylor and Jackie Sanders, former husband Archie Griffis and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edgar Newnum, Jr.

Ms. Griffis workers as a packer at Universal Packaging in Centralia, Illinois.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

As per her wishes, cremation has been chosen and a service will be held at a later date.
