Obituary

Daisy J. Boozer Biggs , 96, formerly of Centralia, was promoted to Glory Thursday, November 28, 2019. She was born on April 11, 1923 the 10th of eleven children born to John Russell and Ida Mae Thompson Boozer. On August 23, 1942, she married Charles E. Biggs of Benton, Illinois. They had a son, David Eugene. Both her husband Charles, and son David preceded her in death.

Daisy graduated from Frankfort Community High School in 1942. Charles was a veteran of WW II, serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army 1st Calvary. The Salvation Army was their Church, and one of the most rewarding times of their lives was serving as Camp Directors of The Salvation Army Camp in Kansas City, MO for 20 years. Daisy was a life member of the D.A.R., taught pre-school at Montessori, held various staff & volunteer positions in the Salvation Army in communities where they lived. When the Salvation Army closed its ministry in Centralia, Daisy began attending the First Church of the Nazarene.

Known as "Sunshine", Daisy enjoyed singing with vocal groups, Bible studies, crafts, jig saw puzzles, reading, crocheting, shopping, traveling and telling jokes and loved to collect angels.

She was the last surviving of the Boozer Children. Daisy has made her home in Ocala, Florida, for the last several years with her niece, Ruth Clayton, who has been her companion and caregiver.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Tim Mondy officiating. Interment will follow at Dennings Cemetery in West Frankfort. Memorials may be made in Daisy's honor to the Salvation Army, the American Cancer Society, or donate a book to your local library in Daisy's name.
