Obituary

David Charles Cottone, age 63, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 12:09 P.M. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was born on May 22, 1951 in Anna, Illinois, the son of Eddie, Sr. and Stella (Foster) Cottone. He married Judy Ring on August 6, 1983 in Centralia, Illinois and she survives in Centralia, Illinois. In addition to his wife of 31 years, Mr. Cottone is survived by his children Stephanie Cartier of Connecticut, Michael Cottone and wife Hollie of Centralia, Illinois, Scott Cottone of Centralia, Illinois and Lauren Niermann and husband Tim of Centralia, Illinois, 6 grandchildren Robert, William, Sarah, Isaac, Micah and Saphyre, mother Stella Cottone of Anna, Illinois, brother Eddie Cottone, Jr. and wife Beverly of Arkansas, sister Dixie Georgantas and husband Chris of Carbondale, Illinois, aunt Lucy Sprague of Marion, Illinois and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Cottone was preceded in death by his father Eddie Cottone, Sr., granddaughter Gracie Niermann and uncles Tom Sprague and Charles Cottone. Mr. Cottone was a member of the Grace Church in Centralia, Illinois where he was a deacon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army stationed in Germany while serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict. His passion in life was spending time with family, loving on his grandkids and riding his motorcyles.  Mr. Cottone was a leadman and welder at American Equipment and Machine Inc. (AEMI) in Centralia, Illinois for 2 years.  He was previously as a journeyman and millwright at Cambridge/Meridian in Centralia, Illinois and was a coal miner, repairman and underground E.M.T. for the Monterey Coal Mines for 26 years. He has lived in Centralia, Illinois for most of his life. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Grace Church in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Alan D. Nollman officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois with Military Honors accorded by the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and V.F.W. Post # 2055. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Grace Church in Centralia, Illinois. Online Condolences of Sympathy may be left for Mr. Cottone's family on Facebook.
