Obituary

David Wayne Guidish, 57, of Mount Vernon, passed away surrounded by his children.

Born in Oceanside, San Diego, California, son of Wayne and Mary Ann (Campbell) Guidish.

David was a man of few filters and ever fewer apologies. David spent his life perfecting the art of telling it like it is, whether you wanted to hear it or not.

For thirty years, he navigated the nation’s highways as a truck driver, racking up more miles than most people have hot dinners, and always had a story (or a complaint) about every single one of them.

Off the road, he was known as Big Top, Ponytail Dave, and ‘KC9TWN’ on the CB radio, where he could be found swapping stories and opinions, often unfiltered, with anyone who dared to key up.

David spent the last nine years of his life at Continental Tire in Mount Vernon as a curing processing technician.

David is survived by his children, Zachary Guidish and mother, Valerie of Kentucky, Caralina and Nicholas Bax of Springfield, Caitlyn and Donte Nettles of Sandoval, Dakota Guidish of Sandoval, and their mother, Cathy. David is also survived by his four grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and older brother, George Guidish.

He’ll be deeply missed by those who understood his gruff exterior hid a surprisingly soft heart, and probably by a few who are just glad they don’t have to hear his political rants anymore.

There will be no services. David would prefer you just went and had a beer in his honor.
