David Lee York , 67, of Elkville, formerly of Patoka, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021. He was born on May 30, 1954, the son of Jim Dale and Hazel (Palmiter) York in Carmi. He married Linda Caudell on December 28, 1983.
Survivors include his beloved family, children Charity Hymon and fiancé Jammoreo Jones of Elkville, Matthew Lee Isben of Oklahoma, Christina Abney of Centralia, and Tiffany Pottorff and husband Geoffrey of Mt. Vernon; mother of his children and caregiver, Linda York; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with 2 new additions on the way; sisters Vonnie Landreth and husband Michael "Dude" of Patoka, and Cindy Gnau and husband Bill of Clarksville, Indiana; and 1 niece and 3 nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Hazel York; brother Terry Dale York; great-grandson Carlos Barnes Jr.
Mr. York served his country with pride in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He had a strong work ethic and was a loyal employee while working in the oil fields. He was an accomplished fisherman who loved to reel in a big catch. David had a passion for baseball and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed playing a good round of golf with his buddies. He liked to savor the wonderful flavors of a good meal. David's most treasured time was spent with his grandkids, watching them grow and spoiling them every chance he got. David was loved and respected and he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka is privileged to be assisting the family of David York with arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021, at Kitty Sweetin Cemetery in Springerton, Illinois. Memorials may be made in David's honor to the donor's choice and will be accepted for the family at the funeral home.
