Delphine C. Baldridge, age 89, of Irvington, Illinois, passed away at 8:30 P.M. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Centralia Manor in Centralia, Illinois. She was born August 17, 1924 in Irvington, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Sophie (Weber) Niemeier. She married Kenneth Troy Baldridge on October 5, 1947 in Irvington, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1961. Mrs. Baldridge is survived by her nieces and nephews including Elaine Chapman and husband Dennis Backstrom of Jacksonville, Illinois and Dwain Chapman and wife Martha of Highland, Illinois, 1 great niece, 3 great nephews, 1 great great niece, 2 great great nephews, 1 cousin Leonard Weber and wife Fran of Irvington of Irvington, Illinois and special friend Renee Traituer of Irvington, Illinois. In addition to her husband of 14 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Pauline Chapman and brother-in-law Darrell Chapman. Mrs. Baldridge was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Irvington, Illinois where she was baptized and confirmed. She was a member of the Women's Guild and church choir. She was a volunteer at the Hoyleton Home for many years. She was a very active member of the Centralia Business & Professional Women. Mrs. Baldrige played pinochle with the same group of ladies for over 50 years. She enjoyed quilting, ceramics, needlepoint, and crocheting which she gave away to her family and friends. She studied at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale for 2 years and graduated from the Centralia Township High School in 1942. Mrs. Baldridge retired as a secretary from the Guidance Office at the Centralia Township High School after 25 years of service. Earlier in life, she and her huband operated Baldridge Refrigeration in Irvington. She was a life long resident of Irvington, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Friedens United church of Christ in Irvington, Illinois with Reverend Stacy Tate officiating. Interment will follow in Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery in Irvington, Illinois. Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until time of services at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 23,m 2014 at the church.
