Dennis P. Higgins , 74, of Junction City passed away, at his home, surrounded by the loving care of his family, Saturday, March 21, 2020. He was born on February 24, 1946 the son of Evert and Marie (Schulte) Higgins in Carlyle. He married the love of his life Carole Owens on January 16, 1965 in Centralia and she preceded him in death.

Survivors remain that will treasure memories of Dennis' generosity include his devoted children, Lisa Finley and husband Dennis of Junction City, Steve Higgins and wife Jackie of Junction City, Dennis "Duane" Higgins and wife Violetta of Winter Haven, FL, and Angie Higgins and significant other Chris Gibson of Junction City; cherished grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Megan, Matthew, Amanda, Josh, Judy, Heather, Kristen, Haven, Dillan, Ashley, Dustin, Travis, Cory, Tesla, Kollin, Brandon, Jordan, MacKinzie; 54 precious great-grandchildren; kind brothers, Dale Higgins, and Ron Higgins; and caring sister, Doris Addison.

Along with his wife, Carole Higgins, Dennis was preceded in death by both his parents, Evert and Marie Higgins; sisters, MaryAnn Francios, and Barb Knight; brother, David Schulte; special friend, Chareletta Biggs; and granddaughter, Nicole Higgins.

Dennis worked diligently as a tanker driver for Weber Trucking Company for 22 years, and as an escort for oversized loads. Whether working, or at home Dennis could always be found with a cup of hot coffee in his hand as he drank his favorite coffee all day long. He loved to go to rummage sales in search of treasures, always having his radar out, looking for a find to add to his Native American collection. Dennis was an expert strawberry picker and loved to share his bounty with family and friends to enjoy. He and his wife Carole worked as a team to can the fresh tastes of the strawberries they picked each year. Dennis was proud to be a fun and loving Grandpa, lending a good listening ear, and a shoulder to lean on. Dennis lived a life worth modeling and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is honored to be assisting the family of Dennis Higgins with arrangements. Private family services will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with the Chaplain that baptized him, Chaplain Chuck Smith, officiating.
