Donald Lee Larry "Squirrel" Whipple, age 60, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, peacefully passed away at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at his sister's home in Centralia, Illinois. He was born on March 30, 1963, in Nashville, Illinois, the son of Orville Lee and Peggy Elizabeth (Darnell) Whipple. He married Stacey Dees on October 16, 2009 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, and she survives him.
In addition to his loving wife of 14 years, Larry is survived by his family, sisters, Chris Scott of Salem, Illinois, Nancy Tenzar of Centralia, Illinois, Carol Mendor of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Kathleen Whipple of Bell Rive, Illinois; brothers, Jack Whipple of Texas, and Charles Whipple and wife Krystal of Mount Vernon, Illinois; mother-in-law, Jan Hill of Benton, Illinois; sister-in-law, Holly Dees of Benton, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Whipple and Peggy Whipple; brother, Danny Joe Whipple; and four furry babies, Taz, Jubilee, Goldie, and Ruby .
Larry was of the Baptist Faith. He loved his six furry friends, Hercules, Rocket, Taz, Jubilee, Goldie, and Ruby, who were puppies given birth to by Rusty and Sissy Sue. He was not one to sit around as he would tinker with his vehicles and built a whole vehicle from scratch. Larry enjoyed being in the outdoors, feeding the horses, fishing, landscaping, and doing yardwork. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Larry was loved by many people.
Larry was a self-employed tree trimmer all of his life until his retirement in 2020 due to his failing health. He lived in Mount Vernon, Illinois for most of his life.
It was the wishes of Mr. Donald Lee Larry Whipple to leave this world quietly with no public visitation or services. Arrangements are in the care of Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Whipple's honor to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
