Obituary

Esther Jewel Bland, age 88, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 3:40 P.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Mar-Ka Nursing Home in Mascoutah, Illinois. She was born on January 3, 1927 in Walnut Hill, Illinois, the daughter of Ace Haney and Anna (Brooks) Haney. She first married Vernon Virgil Bland and he preceded her in death on October 29, 1948. She then married Cleatis James Bland on December 20, 1949 in Pocahontas, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1989.

Mrs. Bland is survived by her sons, LaVerne Bland and wife Kay of Edgerton, Missouri and James Bland and wife Julie of Mascoutah, Illinois; daughters, Delores Sellars and husband Vernon of Joliet, Illinois and Diana Lawson of New Castle, Delaware, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandsons and 7 sisters.

Mrs. Bland was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Centralia, Illinois where she loved to attend services and enjoyed the fellowship of her church family. She formerly attended the Gilead United Methodist Church in Walnut Hill, Illinois. She like watching birds. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

Mrs. Bland was a homemaker and housewife. She has lived all her life in Centralia, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Brother LunKing Tjhie officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia, Illinois. Friends may call from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Mrs. Bland's memory to the Southern Illinois Hospice or Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
