Margaret Evelyn Jolliff , 97, of Patoka passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Known as Evelyn to family and friends, she was born on July 17, 1926, in Pope Township, Fayette County, Illinois to Carl Joseph and Zella Marie (Jones) Easton. On September 11, 1946, she married Sam Jolliff. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2004.

Evelyn was raised in the Patoka area and lived there all her life. She was a member of the Patoka Christian Church, taught in the Patoka C.U.S.D. for 37 years and enjoyed dancing. Most of all, Evelyn loved her family with all her heart and took great pleasure in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren excel at whatever they set their minds to accomplish.

Left to mourn her passing are her son, Carl (Jessica) Jolliff, her daughter, Sally (Neal) Bauer; grandsons, Hap (Elizabeth), Jay (Jennifer), and Zeb (Amanda Gammon) Jolliff; and great-grandchildren, Beau, Dane, Sam, Andrew, Jacob, Abigail, and Abram Jolliff. She also leaves extended family and friends who will miss her.

In addition to her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Juanita Koons and Ada Belle Easton (an infant), and a great-grandson, Hunter Jolliff.

Funeral service to remember Evelyn and to acknowledge her life, well-lived will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka with Hap Jolliff officiating. Burial will follow at the Patoka City Cemetery. Visitation time from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home in Patoka. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Evelyn's honor, checks payable to Kaskaskia College Foundation, and include in the memo Hunter Jolliff Memorial Scholarship, Patoka American Legion Auxiliary Post 543, Patoka Christian Church, or Donor's Wishes.
