Florence A. Westerfeld, age 92, of Houston, Texas formerly of Hoyleton, Illinois, passed away at the Methodist Willowbrook Hospital in Houston, Texas at 5:01 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013.  She was born on April 24, 1921, in Hoyleton, Illinois, the daughter of Fred C. and Emma (Weber) Beckmeyer.  She married Herbert H. "Herb" Westerfeld in 1951 in Centralia, Illinois and he preceded her in death on January 30, 1990.

Mrs. Westerfeld is survived by 2 daughters, Carol Moeller Hale of Houston, Texas, and Janet M. Spinks of Salem, Illinois, and 2 grandchildren, Jeff Spinks of the Saint Louis area and Becky Spinks and fiance` Chris Phillips, both of Seattle, Washington.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Edwin, Harold, William and Reinhardt Beckmeyer; and four sisters, Eunice Beckmeyer, Lillie Friemuth, Edna Drayton, and Mary Ann Tiemann.  Florence was the last surviving child of Fred C. and Emma (Weber) Beckmeyer.

Mrs. Westerfeld grew up in the Hoyleton/Centralia area and moved to Houston in 2009.

Mrs. Westerfeld assisted her husband with the family farm.  She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Hoyleton, Illinois where she taught Sunday School, and belonged to the Women's Guild.  She was a member of the Washington County Home Extension Club and served as a Washington County Republican Election Judge.  She played in the same pinochle club for over 40 years, and started a new pinochle club in Houston.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking bread especially coffee cakes, and canning produce from the garden.  She was an avid Saint Louis Cardinal baseball fan.  She especially enjoyed time spent with the grandchildren and loved when her nephews and nieces came to visit her.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in Hoyleton, Illinois with the Reverend Howard Self and Reverend Bill Groennert officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the church.  Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Mrs. Westerfeld's family at moranfuneralhome@att.net.
