Gloria Jean (Snyder) Gauthier , formerly of Sandoval, recently of Perry, Georgia, departed this life March 26, 2020 at Regency Hospital in Macon, Georgia, after a brief illness.
She was born August 17, 1943 in Princeville, Illinois the daughter of Harold Wiley and Sarah Louise (Warren) Snyder.
After graduation from Sandoval High School, she worked at Old National Bank and Murray Center in Centralia, Illinois. She later moved to Springfield where she was employed as a secretary for the House of Representatives in the Illinois State Capitol. Years later, she moved to New Hampshire, where she worked at a bank, met and married Richard Gauthier, who preceded her in death.
After Richard's retirement they moved to Fairman, Illinois for a brief time and later moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida where she worked at a bank until her retirement. For the past 15 years she lived in Perry, Georgia.
Gloria enjoyed cooking, crafting, reading, playing cards and browsing antique stores. She kept friends and family entertained with her lively storytelling, laughter and general zest for life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and Richard's many brothers and sisters. She was a member of Fairman Baptist Church in rural Sandoval, Illinois.
Gloria is survived by daughter, Toni Kavanaugh Smith of Springfield, Illinois and son Brent Dodson (Gina) of Buford, Georgia. Grandchildren Robert, Steven and Brianna Smith of Springfield and Jared, Erik and Ryan Dodson of Buford, Georgia. Stepchildren Steve (Gina), Karen, Brian, Allen and Kevin (Valerie) Gauthier and step grandchildren Vanessa, Sarah, Olivia, Emily, Ryan, Kyle and Luke and collectively 5 great grandchildren. Other survivors are sisters Reba (Roy) Tensmeyer and Myrna Snyder, brother Wiley (Connie) Snyder all of Sandoval and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a great nephew Cody Snyder.
Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval is honored to be assisting the family of Gloria Gauthier with arrangements. Per her wishes she was cremated, and private graveside services will be held at a later date with interment at Vernon Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to the Fairman Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
