Helen Elizabeth
Lamb
Sep 30, 1926 — Jun 29, 2026
Helen Elizabeth Lamb, 99, of Centralia, passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones at her daughter’s home in Swansea. She was born on September 30, 1926, in Centralia, the daughter of Olcy and Mary (Keith) Featherling. She married her true love, William David Lamb on May 9, 1944, in Kell and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2006.
Survivors that will remember Helen’s love for her family include those who were the joy of her life, her children, Joe (Diana) Lamb, Sharon (Jon) Rehg, and Donna (Alan) Casseday; grandchildren, Christina Root, Ange Christensen, B.J. Lamb, Dana Massie, Drew Casseday, Bryce Casseday, Jennifer Garrett, and Kellee Lamb; ten great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Russell Featherling, and Joyce Clement; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Along with her husband of sixty-one years, William David Lamb, Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Olcy and Mary Featherling; her son, Allen Keith Lamb; and her brothers, Billy, David, Tom, Bob, and Richard Featherling; and sister, Mary Tate.
Helen was grateful to raise her family in Centralia, the same town where she was born and raised. She was a wonderful, nurturing Mom, who supported her children, providing a solid foundation of love. Helen shared her welcome smile while working at Big Johns in the bakery department, and later at St. Mary’s Hospital in the laundry department. Helen had many creative talents. She loved to paint and could draw anything. This helped her make custom cakes for all her family’s special occasions. Helen was quite the dancer, the first on the dance floor to show her line dancing moves. Her great sense of humor made her quick to tell a good joke, which got everyone laughing. Helen was always adding a funny joke to her collection of favorites, and never forgot a single line to any of them. She was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s biggest fan, appreciative of time together, and always ready to lend a listening ear, offer good advice, or just give them a warm hug. She lived her life well. Helen was generous, kind, loyal, and true. All will miss their Mom, Grandma, GiGi, and Hound Dog deeply, but precious memories of Helen will fill the void in their hearts.
A private service was held on July 2, 2026, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park, where Helen will be laid to rest by her husband. Memorials may be made in Helen’s honor to Family Hospice 5110 West Main St. Belleville, IL 62226. Online condolences and memories of Helen may be shared with her family by visiting maczfuneralhomes.com and/or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
