Irene L. Brammeier, age 88, of Hoffman, Illinois, passed away at 4:14 P.M. on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle, Illinois. She was born on July 31, 1926 at her family's home in Washington County, Illinois, the daughter of John and Bertha (Kraus) Sprehe. She married Henry Brammeier on May 4, 1947 in New Minden, Illinois and he preceded her in death on September 22, 1985.

Mrs. Brammeier is survived by her sons, John Brammeier and wife Jeannie of Indianapolis, Indiana and Larry Brammeier and wife Cindy of Hoffman, Illinois, daughter, Carol Edler and husband Dale of rural Carlyle, Illinois, 6 grandchildren, Tim Brammeier and wife Linette, Jill King and husband Jimmy, Tara Franke and husband Aaron, Matthew Edler and wife Leah, Melinda Frerker and husband Tony and Joshua Edler and wife Kristen, 11 great-grandchildren, sister, Esther Oexeman of Centralia, Illinois and brother-in-law, Reverend Marvin Brammeier and wife Hildegarde of London, England.

In addition to her husband of 38 years, Mrs. Brammeier was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Sprehe, sisters, Hulda Voltmer and Laura Palm, and brothers-in-law, Melvin Voltmer, Warren Oexeman and Charles Palm and sister-in-law, Dorothy Sprehe.

Mrs. Brammeier was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman, Illinois, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed baking, cooking and making candy. She liked to take care of her acquaintances. She cherished the time she spent with her family.

Mrs. Brammeier was a private caretaker until her failing health. She retired as a cook from Trinity Lutheran School in Hoffman, Illinois after 43 years of service. She has lived all of her life in Hoffman, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman, Illinois with Pastor Stephen Krenz officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hoffman, Illinois. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman, Illinois and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Brammeier's memory to Trinity Lutheran School in Hoffman, Illinois or Celtic Hospice and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
