James
Carter
August 6, 1946 – July 23, 2020
James Douglas "Jim" Carter, 73, of Salem passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 at his home in Salem surrounded by his devoted family. He was born on August 6, 1946 the son of Thurman and Mary (Knott) Carter in Davieff County.
Survivors that will honor Jim's love of helping others include the love of his life, Helen Teets of Salem; stepchildren, and grandchildren.
Jim proudly served in the United States Military. He was a man that knew the value of hard work and was a dedicated, over the road truck driver. Jim had a huge heart for helping those in need and shared his generous spirit by volunteering with Lighthouse of Odin, and Helping Hands. His heart also had a soft spot for his sweetheart, Helen and they shared quiet times, having picnics by the lake, and enjoying each other's company. Jim loved all dogs, especially his little Yorkie, Molly May. The memories of Jim's smile, the way he protected those he loved, and his servant's heart will bring comfort to all those he knew and loved.
