JoAnna Sue Busscher, 66, of Iuka passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital. She was born on December 17, 1958, the daughter of Carl and Betty (Lacy) Young in Salem. She married John W. Busscher on April 15, 1989, in Clark County, Nevada and he survives in Iuka.
Along with her devoted husband, John Busscher, survivors include her mother, Betty Young of Dothan, Alabama; siblings, Kelly Young and wife Stacy of Dothan, Alabama, Lisa Young of Iuka; aunt, Sue Smith of Xenia; uncle, Robert Young and wife Rachel of Xenia; nephews, Mike Anderson and wife Talon of Salem, and Aaron Anderson of Dothan, Alabama.
JoAnna was preceded in death by her father, Carl Young.
JoAnna valued learning and education, graduating from Flora High School and later graduating from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville with her nursing degree. She was proud to then obtain her Bachelor's Degree from Graceland University. She looked forward to her continuing education classes, gaining many certificates to honor her accomplishments. JoAnna worked as a compassionate registered nurse for SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. She then was an assistant CEO for Crossroads Hospital in Mt. Vernon. JoAnna later returned to SSM Heath St. Mary's Hospital, working for them until her retirement. She enjoyed unwinding while watching the Discovery channel and reality television shows with her husband John. JoAnna had much love for her pets, her two dogs, Maggie and Sunday, and her two parrots, Obie and Sugar. JoAnna will be remembered for her intellect, kindness, protective nature, and love for her family, friends and animals. She will be dearly missed.
