Marion Helen "Rosebud" Deadmond , 97, of Odin passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 4, 1924, the daughter of Raymond and Goldie (Ross) Chappell at her home in Marion County. She married her sweetheart, Nelson "Dean" Deadmond on October 15, 1946, in Mayfield, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2014.
Survivors that will remember Rosebud's love for her family and her fighting spirit include her daughter Patty DeWeese and husband Tom of Sandoval; grandchildren Brenda Kunick and husband Jim of Sandoval, Kathy Parson and husband Chad of Sandoval, Courtney Reams and husband Mike of Sandoval, Tracy Deadmond of Sandoval, Amber Deadmond and fiancé Joe Moore of Marion, Lisa Deadmond, Darren Deadmond and wife Kristy of Oklahoma, and Jason Wilson of Odin; great-grandchildren Jeremy Kunick and wife Shylah, Bethany Beard and husband Nich, Jordan Parson and wife Haleigh, Kylie Smith and husband Jonathon, Megan Parson, Joshua Reams, Jaxon Reams, Justin Deadmond, Jessica Reed, Cody Deadmond and wife Victoria, Cameron Deadmond, Tristan Moore, Ashton Rains, Kelan Rains and wife Bobbi, Brennan Deadmond, Christian Deadmond, Skyler Haskins and wife Alicia, Aleister Wilson, and Clementine Wilson; great-great-grandchildren Emily Kay Deadmond-Bollheimer, Caroline Reed, Ricky Reed, Mira Grace Deadmond, and Paisleigh Deadmond, Oliver Deadmond, Brantley Rains, Mila Rains, Jamison Deadmond, Emily Deadmond, Savanna Deadmond, Mira Deadmond, Paisley Haskins, and Allison Haskins; brothers Tom Chappell and wife Cathy of Junction City, and Jerry Chappell of Centralia; daughter-in-law Carolyn Deadmond; and family friend Dave Wilson.
Along with her husband of 67 years, Rosebud was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Goldie Chappell; sons Dean Deadmond Jr., Larry Deadmond; daughter-in-law Sandy Wilson; several sisters and brothers; and great-granddaughter Shelby Haskins.
Rosebud was a faithful member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Odin and loved attending services there with her family. She was proud to work as a beautician, bringing beauty and friendships to her clients. She never saw a flower she didn't like and had her home looking warm and inviting with all the colors of the flowers growing around her house. She always had a welcoming smile and took every opportunity to share laughter. Rosebud was the matriarch of her family loving on each member, sharing stories of her life, and beaming with pride as she watched them all grow.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2022, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Odin. Interment will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin where she will be laid to rest beside her husband Dean. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Sunday. Memorials may be made in Rosebud's honor to Bethel Baptist Church.
