Mary Ellen White, age 82, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 7:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Centralia Manor in Centralia, Illinois. She was born on September 4, 1931 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Fred Logan and Florence Elsie (Friess) Edwards. She married Arthur White on December 14, 1952 in Centralia, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2005.
Mrs. White is survived by her son Jeff White and wife Beth of Centralia, Illinois, daughter Mona Prosise and husband Gary of Centralia, Illinois, 5 grandchildren Jennifer Bonofiglio and husband Mike, Jake Prosise and wife Casey, Julie Woodcock and husband Daniel, Zakary White and Tyler White and fiancee' Alli Albrecht, 6 great grandchildren Madigan Bonofiglio, Sophia Bonofiglio, Ainsley Bonofiglio, Emma Prosise, Elliana Bonofiglio and Ethan Woodcock, 1 sister Pat Walker of Salem, Illinois, 3 sisters-in-law Mary Virginia Gammon, Mary Edwards and Betty Edwards and several nieces and nephews..
In addition to her husband of 52 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, infant great grandson Michael Bonofiglio, 6 brothers Dwight Edwards, Darrell Edwards, Donald Edwards, Noel Keith Edwards, Ray Edwards, and Lowell Edwards and 2 sisters Betty Edwards and Jeanie Mulvin.
Mrs. White was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois where she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Couples Club. She loved tending to her garden and flowers. She enjoyed reading and baking, particularly making Christmas cookies. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, including cheering them on at their baseball games.
Mrs. White retired after 35 years of service as a Claims Supervisor for the Illinois Department of Employment Security in Centralia, Illinois. She lived all of her life in Centralia, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:01 P.M. on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Mark Girardin and Pastor Perry Schefelker officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at 12:01 P.M. on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made in Mrs. White's honor to the Trinity Lutheran School in Centralia, Illinois and will be received at the Moran Queen~Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
