Obituary

Mary Jane Martinelli, age 92, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 5:21 P.M. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. She was born on April 6, 1921 in Salem, Illinois, the only child of Lillard and Eula (Murphy) Schoonover. She married Joseph Scheriger in 1939 and they were married 19 years until he passed away in 1959.  They had two children Mickey and Nancy.  She then married Norman J. Martinelli on August 22, 1965 in Centralia, Illinois and they were married for 31 years until he passed away on April 23, 1996.

Mrs. Martinelli is survived by a daughter Nancy Bonner and husband Jim of Carterville, Illinois, daughter-in-law Jane Scheriger of Centralia, Illinois, 6 grandsons Jim Bonner and wife E.J., Rodney Bonner, Todd Scheriger and wife Justine, Trent Scheriger and special friend Staci, Craig Bonner and wife Julie and Travis Scheriger and special friend Amy and 9 great grandchildren.

In additions to her husbands, Mrs. Martinelli was preceded in death by her parents and son Joseph "Mick" Scheriger.

Mrs. Martinelli was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Centralia, Illinois. She loved working on her crafts and tending to her flower garden. She enjoyed the time she spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Martinelli attended and graduated from the schools in Centralia, Illinois. She was a housewife and homemaker. She lived her whole life in Centralia, Illinois except for the last 6 months in Carterville, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Moran Queen~Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Tommy Henegar officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the funeral home.
