Obituary

Mildred P. Adams, of Central City, Illinois, a beloved Mother and Grandmother to her grandchildren and many others went into the loving arms of the Lord at 5:14 P.M. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, surrounded by her family at the blessed age of 103. She was born July 9, 1911 in Centralia, Illinois, daughter of William Barney and Mary Maude (Tabor) Buchanan. She married Pearl "Pud" Adams on June 4, 1931 in Centralia, Illinois and he preceded her in death in 1978.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughters, Joanne Hodge and husband Leon of Central City, Illinois and Delores Ayala and husband Vincent of Central City, Illinois, grandsons, Larry Hodge and wife Jean, Randall Hodge and Destry Wood, granddaughters, Tammy Hodge and friend Bobby Bryan, Missy Garrett and husband Stephen and Hildy Smith and friend Mike Schniers, great-grandchildren, Jason Hodge, TJ Hodge and wife Alicia, Angie Mueller and friend Mark Davis, Jay D. Hodge and wife Sara, Jeremy Hodge and wife Amy, Jeffrey Wood, Jacob Wood and friend Shawna Telford, Tabitha Wood and friend Tim, Nicki Clark and husband Wade, Josh McCoy and wife Julie, Colby Wood and friend Michaela Savage and Tyler Ayala, 26 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great granddaughter, six granddaughters-in-law, Kathy "Jo" Hodge, Rhonda Nehrt, Diane Wood, Dee Wood, Terri Boggs and Kim Moody and four step grandchildren, Chris, Ronnie, Nick Sharp and Mandy Merkle.

In addition to her husband of 47 years, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, grandsons, Terry Hodge and Jeffrey Wood, granddaughter, Denise Wood, two sisters, Jaunita Womble and Madelon Schwartz and five brothers, Bud, Jim, Earl, Darrel and Loyd Buchanan, nephews, Max Buchanan and Mike Schwartz and nieces, Carolyn Shook, Linda Schwartz and Janelle Buchanan.

Mrs. Adams was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Centralia, Illinois. She dearly loved her family, especially all sitting around the kitchen table visiting. Her first question to everyone when they came in was, "Are you hungry, honey?"  She will surely be missed by her family and everyone. She retired in 1973 as a seamstress from Miss Elaines Dress Factory after 27 years of service and previously was employed at the Brown Shoe Company in Centralia, Illinois.  She was the Village of Central City's oldest living citizen and was presented a proclamation plaque by Mayor Sharon Heitkamp on her 102 birthday.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois with Pastor Butch Shedd officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Monday. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Mrs. Adams' memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
