Obituary

Patsy Mae "Pat" Hatcher, age 77, of Central City, Illinois, passed away at 1:05 P.M. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at her home in Central City, Illinois with her family at her side. She was born on May 22, 1937, in Brookside Township in Clinton County, Illinois, the daughter of Lee Willard and Marguerite (Buerk) Quick. She married Daniel Lee Hatcher on July 8, 1955 in Centralia, Illinois and he preceded her in death on April 28, 1998. Mrs. Hatcher is survived by her daughter Patricia Smith and husband Mickey of Centralia, Illinois, 4 sons Dale Hatcher and wife Melissa of Denver, Colorado, David Hatcher of Centralia, Illinois, George Hatcher and wife Juli of Centralia, Illinois and Terry Hatcher and wife Rhonda of Centralia, 1 adopted son Eric Mathis of Central City, Illinois, 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister Rosalee York and husband Walter, Jr. of Centralia, Illinois, and 2 sisters-in-law Ione Quick of Centralia, Illinois and Nina Quick of Centralia, Illinois. In addition to her husband of 42 years, Mrs. Hatcher was preceded in death by her parents, 2 daughters-in-law Margaret Hatcher and Loretta Hatcher, 4 brothers LeRoy Quick, Willard Quick, Ralph Quick and infant Rolland Quick, 3 sisters Marie Kesterston, Eileen Clark and infant Arlene Quick, 2 brothers-in-law Dale Kesterston and Eugene Clark and 1 sister-in-law Millie Sanders. Mrs. Hatcher was of the Lutheran Faith. She was past president, board member, tail twister and member of the Central City Lioness Club for 27 years. She enjoyed camping, solving crossword puzzles, designing floral arrangements, reading and watching NASCAR. Mrs. Hatcher was a huge fan of Tweety Bird. She and her husband owned a ceramic store and she worked with ceramics. She was an avid collector of earrings having over a 1000 pairs. She liked to listen to country music including Brooks & Dunn and music of the 50's and 60's. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and she was looking forward to the birth of her fifth great-great grandchild.. Mrs. Hatcher, at the age of 16years old, started as a line operator at Hollywood Brands Candy Company in Centralia, Illinois. She then married and became a homemaker and housewife. She went on to deliver flowers for Reatha's Flower Shop, Brookside Florist and lastly at Ross Flower Shop until her retirement. It was because of her years with the flower shops that she became known as the "Flower Lady". Mrs. Hatcher lived in Central City, Illinois since 1977 and previously in Centralia, Illinois and Denver, Colorado. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Reverend Louis Fluck officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Central City, Illinois. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home with a Central City Lioness Club walk through at 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made in Mrs. Hatcher's honor to the Central City Lioness Club and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home.
