Obituary

Raymond Joseph McManaman, Jr., age 89, of Centralia, Illinois, formerly of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away at 1:06 A.M. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. He was born on March 1, 1924 in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Raymond Joseph, Sr. and Frances Josephine (Tonigan) McManaman. He married Mary Katherine Crabb on August 27, 1947 in Waukegan, Illinois and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2012. Mr. McManaman is survived by his son Bruce McManaman of Centralia, Illinois, daughter Patricia McManaman and husband Michael Tanigawa of Honolulu, Hawaii, 3 grandchildren Katie Tanigawa and Samantha Tanigawa, both of Honolulu, Hawaii and Brian McManaman of Sandoval, Illinois and 2 brothers Brother Tim McManaman of Lockport, Illinois and Tom McManaman of Florida. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Mr. McManaman was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Michael McManaman and George McManaman. Mr. McManaman retired from the U.S. Navy on August 31, 1963 after 20 years of service to his country. He served as a pilot during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. McManaman was an active member of the Senior Association in Honolulu, Hawaii. He loved the time spent with his family. He enjoyed fishing. He has lived in Centralia, Illinois since October 2012, moving here from Honolulu, Hawaii. As per his wishes, Mr. McManaman will be cremated. Memorial Services will be at a later date in Honolulu, Hawaii. Inurnment will take place in the Punchbowl National Cemetery in Honolulu, Hawaii. Cremation rites by the Moran Queen~Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
