Reinhardt A. Brun, age 96, of Odin, Illinois, formerly of Centralia, Illinois and Hoffman, Illinois, passed away at 9:25 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Odin Healthcare Center in Odin, Illinois. He was born on June 16, 1916 in Hoffman, Illinois, the son of William and Anna (Schnitzmeyer) Brun. He was first married to Anita Rose Guebert on November 8, 1947 in Saint Louis, Missouri and she preceded him in death on April 30, 1961, then he married Wanda (Edwards) Smith on October 18, 1963 in Hoffman, Illinois and she preceded him in death on September 10, 1998 and he lastly married Goldie (Gilliam) Frank in April of 2001 and she preceded him in death on January 28, 2002.
Mr. Brun is survived by his 2 stepdaughters Nyla Holsapple and husband Jim of Salem, Illinois and Shirley Parkinson and husband Harold of Centralia, Illinois, 2 stepsons William A. "Bill" Smith and wife Hanna of Locust, North Carolina and Victor H. "Vic" Smith and wife Susie of Fort Worth, Texas, 6 step-grandchildren Malissa Beer and husband Kevin of Waverly, Illinois, Denise Horner and husband Kenton of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Cindy Fleming and husband Dave of Keller, Texas, Victor Smith of North Carolina, Eileen PalaMountain and husband Dave of Charlotte, Norht Carolina and Craig Smith and wife Lillian of San Antonio, Texas, cousin Vernon Schnitzmeyer of Rock Falls, Illinois, niece Sheila Williams of Caseyville, Illinois, great niece Lauren of Caseyville, Illinois, great nephew Michael of Caseyville, Illinois, 21 step-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wives, Mr. Brun was preceded in death by his parents, stepson Jerry L. Smith and sister Agnes Schnitzmeyer.
Mr. Brun was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois. He was a member of the Centralia V.F.W. #2055. Mr. Brun was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army from June of 1943 until he was discharged as a Corporal in February of 1946. He was stationed in India near Burma while serving his country. He loved to build and fly model airplanes and liked to travel. He was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Brun was an auxiliary engineer with the Natural Gas Pipeline in Hoffman, Illinois who retired in 1981 after over 30 years of service. He has lived all of his life in the Centralia, Illinois area.
Graveside Services for Mr. Brun will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hoffman, Illinois with Pastor Perry Schefelker officiating. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Saturday. Military Honors accorded by the Centralia V.F.W. Post #2055 and American Legion Post #446. There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Brun's honor to Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
