Roger Westfield Martin , age 72, of Sanderson, Florida died Thursday, Jan. 9, at his home following an extended illness. He was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on October 27, 1947 and lived in Doniphan, Nebraska for 30 years before moving to Sanderson, Florida in 2011. He worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for over ten years. He enjoyed motorcycle runs, hunting, fishing and his dogs. He attended the Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Baker County, Fla. and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Hastings, Nebraska Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Martin of Sanderson, Fla.: Four sons, Dean Schnieders of St. Louis, Mo., William Martin of Macclenny, Fla., Roger M. Martin of Sanderson, Fla. and David Martin of Hastings, Nebraska: one sister, Sharron McKnight of Hastings, Neb.: seven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Chester and Dorothy Margaret McGowan Martin.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Seth Baltzell officiating. Interment will follow at Needmore Cemetery in Orchardville. A visitation time will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home in Centralia.
