Sandra Hicks , 78, of Salem, IL passed away at her home on Thursday, December 16, 2021. She was born on February 3, 1943, the daughter of Louis and LaVerne (Mullens) Wimberly. She married the love of her life, Leon Hicks on June 17, 1963, in St. Louis and he survives her in Salem.

Along with her beloved husband of 58 years, Leon Hicks, survivors that will remember Sandra's warm smile include her devoted children, Jeff Hicks and wife Cris of Salem, Mark Hicks and wife Sheila of Salem, and Angie Pollard of Salem; 6 cherished grandchildren, Brandon Hicks and wife Natalie of Salem, Danielle Hicks of Salem, Mallory Knaak and husband Randall of Salem, Blake Hicks of Salem, Robert Hicks and wife Julie of Shumway, and Ronnie Pollard of Salem; 6 precious great-grandchildren, Braelan Knaak, Braidyn Monroe, Briella Hicks, Adalynn Verdun, Emersyn Hicks, and Lavina Hicks.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and LaVerne Wimberly; and her siblings, Lloyd Wimberly, and an infant sister.

Sandra was an amazingly, compassionate lady who gave the very best care to many grateful patients while working as a CNA at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. She enjoyed bowling, loving to hear the sound of a strike at the bowling alley. She had a gift of creativity and found it relaxing to make crafts to share with friends and family. Sandra was so grateful to be a grandmother and a great-grandmother and was so proud of each of her grandkids. She had a gentle, kind way that will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 20, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Odin. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home in Odin with Chaplin Joannie Naraghi officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin.
