Obituary

Carl P. "Skip" Heinrichsmeyer Sr., 75, of Centralia passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 at his home in Centralia. He was born on April 27, 1944 the son of Marvin and Eleanor (Beaty) Heinrichsmeyer in Centralia.

Survivors that will hold treasured memories of Skip include his beloved children, Carl P. "Skip" Heinrichsmeyer Jr. and wife Jennifer of Centralia; precious grandchildren, Cameron, Mason, Trevor, Bella, and Ayla of Centralia; caring siblings, Roy Heinrichsmeyer and wife Tammy of Centralia, and Janet Pracht and husband George of Centralia; and dear caregiver, Robin.

Skip was preceded in death by both his parents, Marvin and Eleanor Heinrichsmeyer; and brothers, Brad Heinrichsmeyer, and Don Heinrichsmeyer.

Skip held the honor of being inducted into the Centralia High School Sports Hall of Fame and Centralia Jr. College Hall of Fame for his incredible basketball abilities. He had Centralia Orphans in his blood and continued to cheer on his alma mater to victory. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Skip was a loyal employee of the Illinois Central Railroad for many years. He had a good head for business and was the owner and operator of Skipper Inn for 37 years where he shared his talent for story telling and leant a listening ear to his customers. Skip was a member of Jaycee's, Senator #6753 and held the position as past president, Centralia Elks, Centralia Moose Lodge, Bears Local #1, American Legion Post 446, VFW Post 2055, and Vietnam Veterans Organization. He enjoyed time spent on the golf course with his friends in the Skipper Inn League. Skip was a passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan never missing a game. He loved his family fiercely and cherished time spent with each of them.

Irvin Macz Funeral Home has the honor of assisting the family of Skip with arrangements. A celebration of life service will be held by the family from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Skipper Inn in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Skip's honor to the Donor's Choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
