Troy Wayne Wright, age 67, of Centralia, Illinois, formerly of Elgin, Illinois, passed away at 1:08 A.M. on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. He was born on December 13, 1946 in Herrin, Illinois, the son of John Vernon and Edna Martha (McGlasson) Wright. He married Cheryl Lynn Gunter on January 20, 1968 at the First Baptist Church in Elgin, Illinois and she preceded him in death on July 26, 1998.
Mr. Wright is survived by his 2 sons, Jeff Wright and wife Cindy of Centralia, Illinois and Jeremy Wright and wife Dawn of Centralia, Illinois, 7 grandchildren, Ericka Alvey and husband Justin, Tyler Wright, Emily Wright, Ashley Wright, Dillon Wright, Dallas Wright and Desi Wright, 2 great grandchildren, Anna Alvey and Allie Alvey, 1 brother, Johnny Wright and wife Judy of Arizona and 3 sisters, Nadine Gregg and husband James of Centralia, Illinois, Pauline "Marge" Huffstutler and husband Ferrell of Centralia, Illinois and Brenda Phillips and husband Gilbert of Marion, Illinois.
In addition to his wife of 30 years, he was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
Mr. Wright was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed fishing and tending to his gardens. He was an old car and truck enthusiast who went to car shows. He liked to attend auctions. He was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He watched the old westerns and more recently WWE Wrestling. He listened to old country music that included George Jones and Johnny Cash. He was a CB operator whose handle was Marshal Dillon. He cherished the time he spent with his family especially the Fridays that he went to the Corner Cafe with his son, Jeremy. He has lived in Centralia, Illinois since June 28, 1982.
Mr. Wright retired as tree trimmer with the Wright & Sons Tree Service after 15 years of service to his community. He was previously employed as a foreman with Burgess-Norton Manufacturing Company in Geneva, Illinois for 13 years.
A Celebration of Life Services will be held on 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois with Chaplain Brad Garner. Inurnment will take place in Gilead Cemetery in Dix, Illinois at a later date. Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the services at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Wright's honor to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
